Allergy season is upon us, a time of dust, pollen, viruses, and bacteria. Treating sinus problems yourself is very important and much healthier than pumping yourself full of antibiotics.
Sinus infections are one of the most common, but naturally curable conditions that cause pressure on your nasal cavity. There are many effective natural remedies that can be used to clear your nasal passage, and nutrition is also important to work on your lymphatic system and boost immunity.
There are many Different Sinus conditions:
Acute Sinusitis- Viruses or bacteria infect the sinus cavity, causing inflammation, increased mucus production, nasal congestion, discomfort in the forehead, cheeks, or around the eyes.
Chronic- This is more than just a series of infections, chronic sinusitis can be a persistent process of inflammation.
Allergic rhinitis- This is when allergens like dust, dandruff, or pollen cause defences such as mucus, nasal stiffness, sneezing, and itching.
Deviated Septum- If the septum that divides the nose deviates too far to one side, this can cause the airflow to be obstructed.
Nasal polyps- This is when small growths grow inside the nasal cavity known as polyps. Diseases like asthma, chronic sinus infections, and allergic rhinitis can lead to this.
Natural Cures:
1. Diet
During infections try and eat in moderation, with a large emphasis on beans, lentils, vegetables, soups, and cold-pressed oils. Foods like flour, eggs, chocolate, sugar, and dairy products help to form mucus so you will want to avoid these. Stay hydrated!

Put the spout into one side of your nose and tilt your head to one side so the water can run through the opposite nostril. Do not tilt your head back tilt it to the side! Repeat with the other nostril.

At the onset of an infection combine 2 tsp of raw apple cider vinegar in 6-8oz of water, add a tsp of honey or stevia if vegan, and drink 3 times a day for up to five days. The vinegar helps to thin the mucus, so it can be easily eliminated.
